Holy or Hallelujah Saturday

...... Late yesterday afternoon, Friday, 2000 years ago, after Jesus takes his last breath, a Roman soldier pierces Jesus' side with a spear to insure he was dead.  One soldier was heard saying, "Truly this man is the Son of God.". Jesus was removed from the cross by Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy member of the Jewish council who was secretly a follower of Jesus.  He and Nicodemus, the one Pharisee that actually called Jesus "Rabbi" and said He was a “preacher from God”, prepared Jesus body and placed him in Joseph's private tomb.  Mary, Jesus' mother and Mary Magdeline both saw where his body was placed.       The Pharisees wanted to ensure Jesus body stayed in the tomb, for they heard him say he would rise from the grave on the third day after his death.  They felt if his body was stolen or taken out by the disciples, it would cause much chaos on the Sabbath. Upon their request Pontious Pilate placed guards in front of the tomb and ordered it sealed to make sure Jesus’ body stayed in place.       

Imagine the disciples fearing for their lives and hiding in and around Jerusalem.  Would one of them be next to die because they followed Jesus?  Also imagine waking up this Saturday morning with total sadness for the events of yesterday, Good Friday.  The man you loved and followed for over three years was unfairly accused, brutally beaten and hung on a cross to die.  Can you imagine what must have been going through their minds?  Was there any hope at all?        

Well ... Guess what happens tomorrow?....... The final and most important event in The History of the World!      Think about the power of the events this week.  In one more day God's total plan will be fulfilled.  The life of Jesus and his 3 1/2-year ministry are predicted in the Old Testament over 300 times.  The prophecies date back some 2000 years before Jesus was born.  How incredible is that?!?!       Question...... Do you believe this?  Do you understand HOW we know we are forgiven? Or why we need to be?
